Hey guys and gals!

Last Sat we were at the Curve to check on the status of the Zippo lighter advert.  Ardent's picture is 1 of 3.. and the one holding up the process is a cigar picture if I'm not mistaken.. my zippo advert's been approved long ago.. that damn cigar.. anyways.. targetted to be up in December 08.. so do check it out when visiting Embershoppe which is situated behind the Volksvagen showroom..

Well we did had a bit of time and decided to just do some random snaps.. seems like there'll be a big christmas tree .. you think? Cool

Tho the white christmas tree at Pavilion KL last Christmas was much much larger and gives more of a Christmasy feeling.. unsure if this year Pavilion KL will have it again.. will snap some pics if they do..

Anyway these are some of the random pics taken by Jacky using the AF-S VR Micro-NIKKOR 105mm f/2.8G IF-ED to just take some close up of items found at Scarlet.. When things are up close, it just take a different prespective even if its an everyday object.. every object will have its own distinctive marks, nicks and scratches to give character to the object.. like so..

Or, you can go with a 'what's that?' type of picture.. taking a close up of just a section of an item with enough detail to get one's attention but insufficient to go 'i know what that is' straight out..

The rest of the shots are taken with the AF-S VR Nikkor 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6G ED lens of the rest of the interior of Scarlet.. Glenmorangie.. one of the better single malt whiskies around.. if you are the type to just bottoms up, then I suggest going with the cheaper Black Label.. good whisky is like good wine, never meant to be bottoms up.. and if you intention is just to get smashed/drunk, suggest just drinking Absinth.. gets there faster .. which is a small step before drinking pure alcohol.. (Absinthe ranges from 45% - 75%)

And this is how Scarlet looks like

A well stacked Belvedere Vodka bottles.. Ardent prefers Grey Goose.. tho its slightly cheaper than Belvedere when buying from ColdStorage..

I noticed that many people rarely look up.. well as a professional photographer, everything needs to be observed.. people who frequent Scarlet may not notice this wonderful chandelier..

Ok.. that's about it for Scarlet.. afterwhich we headed down to Zeta Bar... Till then..

Cheers,
Adrian Y.

Hey guys and gals!

We here @ Ardent have been pretty busy running around snapping pictures and basically being out there to mingle around with the people. So last Tuesday I dropped by at Rain Bistro. Not much of a choice since the big tai ko there Marvin personally invited me to come.

Ardent will be there to cover tho not officially, but was granted permission by the King Pin of Rain Bistro, Mr. Sam to cover the event. So stay tune for the Rain Bistro Opening this coming Tuesday 11th November 2008. If you are there, do say Hi! Cool

Rain Bistro in the early evening.

Of course it overlooks a nice pond which at night hosts a light fountain show! Check out the first batch of pictures here.

There's my good pal Marvin.. this time around he has a healthy stock of booze to keep the social wheel lubracated! Do notice there's Frengelico! yay dude.. Seriously, for you gals.. go try this drink out.. its an Ardent Certified Drink! kekke.. along with Grey Goose Vodka, Glenmorangie Single Malt Whisky and Hendricks Gin.. Hendricks was last spotted at Breeze TTDI but I am pretty sure that I helped greatly in depleting their stocks to Zero on that one. Cool

At times its hard to capture the actual mood of a bar since most it is dark most of the time and putting a Flash does help but just doesn't look natural. When it comes to scenery either natural or man made, its good to go with natural lighting. I did manage to capture one above which pretty much gave a chill and relaxing atmosphere.

My man Marvin filling up a prescription of Guiness beer! Just like what the doctor ordered.. serious..

Well as much as I would like it, I can't be harping on Marvin lest not the Gay word be included in this, I did hang out with these bunch of people. That's Georgia formally from Euphoria Ministry of Sound.. now she's going around making people feel insecure about their weight.. did I say that she works in a Slimming company? oops..

The two guys on the left are Magicians! when you go down to Rain, look for the guy on the furthest left and ask him to do that cigarette trick. By the way that dude next to him? is his guru.. dun play play! or he'll saw you in half.. Laughing

Ah.. palm reading..  you have nice, soft and well moisturized palm.. I forsee you use Nivea hand cream.. twice daily.. such accuracy can be achieved by just having 2 guys touching one another! kekkeke Just kidding dudes!

There's Georgia just acting goofy as usual.

Anyway that's all for now.. do take care!

Cheers,

Adrian Y.

Whao.. last night was definately different!

What was suppose to be another Midouri Night turns out to have morphed into Cleo Fashion Awards night.. where all the top retailers are awarded.

Well we didn't take that much pictures of the award itself since Cleo has already engaged 2 other photographers for the event, it won't be nice to 'be in the way' of their rice bowl. Kinda a professional curtesy and besides we are way too busy enjoying the cocktails that our good friend and mixologist expert Ben Ng conjoured up.  yum!

Anyway below are the pictures taken last night..

That's the stage of which the Award Ceremony is held.. nothing fancy but ok never than less.. I guess their budget went towards their CLEO Fashion Show which will be held if I'm not mistaken in Pavilion. Date? terlupa..

Met some of Ben's friends.. Now, doesn't the blue just stands out..  kekeke.. I made you look!

Oooh some of the delicious tiny dishes served that night..

Another yummy food.. small but yet power packed in taste.. yum..

Rowr.. a free advertisment for Tiger beer..  Wink

Ah.. there's Ben..  making cocktail heaven one perfection at a time.. amazing..

Look at him shake his thang! such gusto.. well too bad James Bond ain't gonna see that action since he's a stir not shaken type of dude..

The Midouri inspired cocktail..  didn't manage to get the name of it but boy was it delicious! perfectly blended together with taste rivaling a symphony orchestra..

Another cocktail prepared by Ben.. stronger taste which stands out well after the sweeter drink above..

Ahh.. finally Ben's off work and posing with his pals..

Manage to take a nice picture of Jacky with one of the gals from the Band..

The band will be playing until early next year @ the Zeta bar KL Hilton, so do make a point in listening to the live band there.

Met two cool dudes from FCUK, but due to the scandalous nature of the pictures, its not posted here. This is to maintain the friendly family environment theme that we have here @ Ardent.. right... Cool

Cheers,

Jacky and I sneaked some time off to check out the latest hotest bar in town called Quattro.. Well.. its not exactly a 4 wheel drive Audi version of Quattro but rather the 4 seasons..

Well in Malaysia, there's only one season.. MEGASALE Season!!! ... ok fine.. Summer.. all year round..

In that aspect, its nice to have a club that brings Summer, Spring, Winter and Autumn all together in one nifty club.. Whatever you are in the mood for, Quattro has it..

We arrived at KLCC around 8pm.. was kind of an unplanned getaway from work hence the bad timing... I would have preferred to arrive slightly earlier to catch the sunset lit sky.. oh well..

In the end, we played a bit on the composition to reduce the amount of 'black' as much as possible.. limited to only one corner of the picture.. which gives a stark contrast to the bright towers which accentuates lines leading to the sky..

The blue signage has two purposes: -

1. Adds color to an otherwise silver black boring combo...

2. It also adds depth to the image.. Something near, something in the middle (the Malaysian flag, plants) and far, the twin towers itself.. A flow towards the towers itself..

Here I present to you.. KL Twin Towers..

After a short stop to take the above picture, we walked across the road and took the below picture of Quattro from the street..

Trust me, there were tons of people walking around..  so how do one take a picture without anyone in it? Easy.. tell that you got a BOMB! and then quickly set up your equipment and snap snap snap before the comando units kick your ass double time..   Cool

Ok fine, seriously.. bring a tripod and put in a long exposure.. very long.. like 20 seconds or more.. that will just make people disappear entirely while maintaining the clarity of the entire image..

On the left is where it all starts.. from Summer.. which is a restaurant styled environment.. easy, relaxing and quiet.. you can sit outside which is where the below image is taken..

Below is the shot we took of Quattro from inside Avenue K

Then right inside, is Autumn.. the main dance club..

There is a walkway in between Autumn and Spring.. the Rain walkway.. which will actually rain for about 5 minutes every hour.. Luckly for you, there is a full time rain miester that will tell people to bring umbrellas in when the time approaches.. When the rain actually fell on KL, I asked this rain miester to switch off the rain outside.. he replied 'Ok, no problem, let me telephon boss atas' .. cheeky fella isn't it.. Tongue out

Interestingly, the waitresses at Autumn are all wearing satin like bathrobes..  kinky eh.. we joked with them saying that they bathed on the Rain walkway then come to work! corny.. yeah... let me use that joke again after a couple of beers.. it'll grow on ya!

Below are more shots of the Autumn bar..

Now.. we head down to Winter! where if silky bathrobe waitress isn't getting you off.. try heading upstairs.. and you'll get Moscow KGB bouncers and waitresses waiting for you.. All wearing thick coats and even sporting those wooly hats.. Oh yeah, one must put a RM50 deposit for the coats..

Coats are for wussies.. and we just went in.. well.. all I can say is that the coats are there for a reason..   (truth is, we just followed our tour guide in.... he just walked in with full confidence.. so if he can do it.. so can .. brrrrrr teeth chattering..)

The above is the view of the bar in Winter.. its a smaller setting.. and.. by golly.. its really COLD!

Anyway.. just when I thought things couldn't get any worse, there's an Ice lounge area.. where you find ice sofas.. if you ask me.. its the same thing when you move your living room into an industrial sized freezer..  Tongue out

Already cold, I went in to take some pictures.. the first one was the one closest to the door and air curtain.. If you are one who's blur when the weather report mention Wind Chill Factor? just stand in this air curtain.. and you'll get a good lesson on it..

Anyway.. as a professional photographer, I decided to go in to take a better shot of the room.. which is the one below.. strangely.. once exiting this ice cube, the Winter bar just seems warm..  I wonder why.. Tongue out

The ones that we missed out is Spring.. its an open air lounge bar with a small live band area..

Finally, we would like to thank George for the tour.. and Cheryl tho we didn't get to meet her that night..  buzy I guess..

Luckly we didn't attend the opening night, the staff there expected 2000 pax, ended up to 4000 pax.. the ice lounge? all melted in the end..

All this talk about carbon causing Global Warming.. if 4000 pax can turn a freezer into a pussycat.. try putting 2 million of us on the north pole.. Cool

I got to admit that the pictures are unlike the Euphoria pictures.. since this a tour guided operation, it won't be nice to have our host wait for us to set up our gizmos on each location....

Maybe next time..

Cheers,

Adrian & Jacky

A good friend of Jacky and I, Marvin, left Euphoria Ministry of Sound to head one of the newest bistros in town.. Located in Plaza Kelana Jaya (On the left of the LDP in front of Kastam Malaysia, turn right when seeing a big RHM advert)..

This plaza is relatively new and it overlooks a pond that lights up for some fountain like shows? heck no idea what are those called.. there's a picture of it below..

So here's Rain..

Quite interesting concept as the RAIN crome wordings highlights the water droplets on it.. looks like rain doesn't it? Another good thing is that the tiles are dark.. if it was white, the flowing water would have made it brown in no time.. yuck..   The picture above is taken with a 20 second exposure to see if the flowing water will give a dreamy fog around the wordings .. unfortunately it didn't tho you can see small areas of it, its not sufficient to create the fog type effect.. never then less, the longer exposure, first lowers the noise count (lower ISO) while smoothens the background.. still works!

This is the first drink that my good old pal Marvin served us, its made by his Bar Captain.. and its called.. 'Blue Punch'? sorry dude if I got this wrong! but yeah.. its a mocktail meaning you can drink till the cows come home and still go back home safely minus a bloated bladder..

Taste? yummy..  not bad..  Marvin who's earlier attached to Breeze @ TTDI, kept the tradition in serving quality cocktails/mocktails in using fresh ingredients.. I noticed fresh fruit at the bottom.. :) keep the quality and standards up dude!!

Rain Bistro actually consists of 2 different styles..  this is the Wine room.. a more quieter setting with cubicles of sofas nicely hidden behind a veil of red strings.. Nice as it is, it kept entangling with my camera.. naughty stuff..  its less noisy and more cozy.. suitable for anyone who just want to kick back and relax without taking the risk of going deaf or developing migranes..

The picture above is the wine bar.. I would say the atmosphere is nice and cozy..

Ok, here's the main room.. taken with a 30 second exposure to help bring out the environment while blurring people..

Here's another angle on the right directly overlooking the DJ console..

Ahh.. that's my man, Marvin.. well, this place is just opened for 4 days when I took those pictures, so yeah it's still warming up.. but I have faith in my good pal to give the best in terms of drinks and service.. well if he doesn't, just drop me an email and I'll go there and hentam him properly.. ok with you?  kekkeke

Alas, the fountain show.. manage to catch it when its doing its loop loop thingy..  on the bottom there's this one freaky bird which is partly covered by the watermark..  kekeke.. tried blinding the bird with full power from my SB-800 direct but it seems to care less and continue to just perch on that piece of wood that's jutting out from the pond while enjoying the fountain show..

You can also enjoy food from two outlets overlooking this fountain show..  nice atmosphere..

Till the next time.. Chao!

Ever want to look for a place to chill out and just relax but yet want some style and some cocktails added into the mix? well if that's the case, Breeze @ TTDI is the place for you.. Its located next to NAZA TTDI or more accurately behind the Bambooq bar.. its an open air concept that allows for good air circulation.. in part thanks to 3 gigantic fans located directly above the Breeze bar...

The pictures below are the view you'll see while sitting at the bar.. its helmed by a few really amazing and talented bartenders.. namely Bob and Marvin (who's now working in Euphoria Ministry of Sound.. this is the place where I got to meet Ben Ng.. a young talented and passionate mixologist from Penang..

Thanks to Ben, this place is like the UN of alcohol where booze from all over the world come here to get me high.. :P There's vodka from Iceland, Switz, Russian and god knows what else..  seriously one should try the vodka from Iceland.. its one word.. COOOOOLLLLL...!

The thing about drinking cocktails around KL/PJ is that the standard is not there.. every bar is just out to squeeze the most $ while delivering abysmal cocktail standards.. This is where Ben made this place different.. Only the finest (within cost reason) is provided.. such as fresh berries and mint leaves..

Tiny details such as how the mint leaves are muddled together in order to bring out the taste is factored into each drink requiring it.. that's the level of dedication to their passion for cocktails.. I'm inspired talking to Ben and am glad there is someone who's trying to bring up our Malaysian standards for drinks..

Take another example.. Margaritta.. all the places that I've been uses typical table salt.. eeuchhh..  its way too salty and the taste just punches you on the face.. @ Breeze? they use French Sea Salts.. larger and more smoother salty taste which unlike the table salt that SHOCKS your tastes.. this sea salt gives a warm welcoming.. To top it off, they also add in agave honey (which is what tequila is made of).. this drink ultimately tastes like..

Mildly salty -> Tequila flavor -> Mildly sweet.. its an amazing blend which is meant to be sipped and enjoyed..

That's the whole idea of cocktails..  using different ingredients to make a symphony of taste..

You haven't tasted cocktails until you come down to Breeze.. Let Bob and his fresh ingredients and UN inspired booze in creating the most unique and amazing tasting cocktails that will satisfy anyone.. Just make sure Bob knows what you fancy! something strong? refreshing? smooth? anything..

Did I mention that Bob also enters Bartending competitions and won?

Do check this place out and mention to Bob that Adrian the camera guy recommended you.. you are in good hands!

Always remember... DRINK RESPONSIBLY!

The view on the left of the bar.. and..

tada... the right.. :P there's a big projector screen there.. so if you plan to watch your favourite football or US open tennis match, here's the place to be!

The drink is Citrusca.. a lady's alcohol drink.. mixed with only the best.. notice the fresh berries! its sweet and tangy.. nice and refreshing!

This drink for me is.. damn.. I forgot.. but it was goood! :P a man's drink.. stronger taste..
